Join us for a fun and informative cooking experience. Immerse yourself into the rich traditions of Aelan "slow" food as we explore the ingredients, techniques and stories that weave together our island community.
Our friendly staff will greet you with warm, welcoming smiles upon your arrival. They are always eager to share their stories, including the story of Eden on the River and "Yo Ku," our unique tourism and farming property.
Get ready for an unforgettable hands-on experience as you learn to make simboros, a beloved local delicacy that embodies the essence of traditional island cooking. Our guides will demonstrate the art of traditional preparation and cooking methods. And then, it’s your turn! Roll up your sleeves and unleash your inner chef as you craft your very own simboros.
But that’s not all! Stroll through our vibrant kitchen gardens and breathe in the fresh island air as you discover the origins of key ingredients like manioc, island cabbage, lap-lap leaves, and coconuts. Feel the earth beneath your feet as you wander past the luscious pepper and vanilla vines and the colourful local fruit and vegetable garden, and even catch a glimpse of how kava is cultivated and learn about its profound significance in the culture of Vanuatu.
No island feast is complete without coconut milk! Have a go at making this essential ingredient the time-honoured way by scratching (grating) fresh coconuts to yield shredded coconut flesh. You'll have a blast squeezing the flesh through your hands and straining it to create creamy coconut milk.
After this adventure, you’ll savour your culinary creations paired with a tropical fruit-tasting platter that will leave you craving more.
When you’ve finished that part of the adventure, the choice is yours! Whether you're seeking relaxation or further exploration, you can take a dip in the river or explore our amazing gardens and playground at your own pace.
Join us for this enchanting cooking experience where cooking, culture, and community come together perfectly!
