Join us as we dive into the fascinating world of kava! This traditional drink isn’t just a beverage; it’s a vibrant part of Vanuatu Kastom and a cornerstone of everyday life. Share stories and traditions, connect with local culture, and create lasting memories!
Our friendly staff will greet you with warm, welcoming smiles upon your arrival. They are always eager to share their stories, including the story of Eden on the River and "Yo Ku," our unique tourism and farming property.
The tour commences with a short walk down to our kava fields growing on Yoku Farm. You’ll get a firsthand look at how kava is grown and have the chance to learn about the special “Noble” varieties from your friendly guide. As we meander along the path, we'll also pass through our kitchen garden, where you can marvel at the pepper and vanilla vines, along with a variety of local fruits and vegetables. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with nature and learn about local culture.
Along the way, our friendly guide will share fascinating stories about kava and the cultural traditions surrounding its varying preparation methods on different islands. We'll return to the café where you can watch some of the ways of kava preparation, and our guide will also show you some of the products made from kava. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can sip a small shell of freshly prepared kava. It's a unique experience that isn't for the faint of heart! The flavour is distinct, and the aftereffects are intriguing!
To enhance your experience, we’ll also enjoy a “wasem moat,” which is a food or drink that helps clear the kava taste from your palate. Our wasem maot is served as a delicious tropical fruit-tasting platter.
When you’ve finished that part of the adventure, the choice is yours! Whether you're seeking relaxation or further exploration, you can take a dip in the river or explore our amazing gardens and playground at your own pace.
Join us on this fascnitating journey into the culture of kava and the Kastoms of Vanuatu.
