Bridges of Eden

Bridges of Eden

Join us at Eden on the River, south Efaté’s most established tour attraction, for an unforgettable experience. Bridges of Eden: Guided Suspended Bridges Tour is designed to give people of all ages a tour that is both educational and fun!

On arrival, the guests are met by our friendly, fully-trained staff and given an introduction, during which they are personally fitted into their full-body harnesses.

Following the introduction, a gentle walk leads guests through the edge of the garden and then on to the start of the river walk, passing through some magnificent virgin rainforest. The tour guides will share information about their kastom and culture, continuing into the rainforest and leading the guests down to the river to the beginning of the first bridge.

Built and maintained to world class safety standards, 3 suspended pathways, or bridges, lead guests to wind their way across the stunning Rentapau River, an immersive experience in pristine surroundings. Each bridge is 2-4 meters above the river. The first bridge is 23 meters long with a visually inviting wood walkway and is designed so those who are unsure of themselves will be confident enough to begin. This bridge is very stable, so by the end of the first bridge, guests will be confident about the security and safety of their harnesses.

The 2nd bridge is 52 meters long and has sections of timber walkways, so the guests will feel relaxed about stopping and taking photos of the magnificent scenery. This bridge passes underneath a Natora tree that many years ago must have fallen off the cliff wall but has now anchored to the wall and river bed and continues to grow to form a natural archway.

The final bridge is 23 meters and leads back across the river; it allows a great view down the river so guests can see what the rest of their group is doing. The final section of the tour is an assisted 17-meter mini-zipline that will allow people that would normally not do anything like this a real sense of adventure. Guests can do the bridges circuit once or twice or 3 times.

The company that designed and constructed the bridges has designed and built structures throughout Australia and Asia and describes this tour as “World class” and a “Unique riverscape experience”.

Upon completing the Bridges Circuit, the guests will unharness and finish with a tropical fruit-tasting platter; guests are then at their leisure for swimming or wandering the gardens and playground.

Cooking at Eden

Join us at Eden on the River, for an introduction to traditional "slow" food in our interactive, informative and FUN, experience Cooking at Eden.

On arrival, you will be met by our friendly, welcoming staff, who will introduce you to the story of Eden on the River” and “Yo Ku”, our tourism and farming
property.

During this tour, you will learn how to make simboros, a delicious local delicacy loved by all. Guides will demonstrate traditional preparation and cooking
methods for making simboros, after which you will make their own.

Once you have assembled the ingredients and the food is cooking, the guide will wander with you through the kitchen gardens; you will learn where the
ingredients come from and how you are harvested; manioc, island cabbage, lap-lap leaves and coconuts.

The garden walk will take you past the pepper and vanilla vines, the pineapple plantation and the local fruit and vegetable garden. You will also see how kava
is grown and learn a little about the importance of this drink in Vanuatu culture.
